Book Themed Gift Giving by Laurie Wood

Let’s say your gift recipient LOVES romantic suspense novels and you’ve picked up a copy of NORTHERN DECEPTION, but you’d like to add one or two, or even a few, things to the book for your special someone. Depending on whether you’re giving this chilly, sometimes-heart-pounding, book to a girlfriend or your own hero, here are a few suggestions—both big and small—to pair with a copy of the book!

Our heroine, Kira, practically lives on hot chocolate. Any gourmet hot chocolate will be the perfect thing to go with the book. And we have Starbucks in Canada as well, so any Canucks in the audience can find what you need there, the same as our dear friends in the US.

Kira also loves cozy slippers. Some ladies don’t like getting slippers for Christmas, (I would be one of them!) so you could always go for the gag gift and get her Polar Bear slippers instead!

I love collecting mugs, so I “gave” Kira a favourite mug of mine. It bears the Scripture verse “Be Fearless”, Joshua 1:9. You could always buy a mug from your local Christian bookstore with any verse the person you’re gifting loves. Here’s another one with another of my favourite verses…

If you’re having a frugal Christmas, you can always bake Ruby’s Café’s famous Chocolate Pecan Pie. I borrowed that recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction.

Here’s some knee-high and uber-warm polar bear socks! Who doesn’t love crazy socks in the winter time?

Lukas, our hunky hero, has an adorable daughter named Sophie, who doesn’t go anywhere without her pink bunny. Any floppy pink bunny will do for your own person to cherish with the book.

Likewise, your recipient might enjoy a stuffed polar bear to cuddle up with—because the real thing is FAR from cuddly!

If they’re a dog lover, they might enjoy cuddling with a replica Husky dog, like one of Lukas’s sled dogs. They ARE very cuddly!

Now, would you like your fellow to spark off some hunky hero vibes?

How about getting him one of Lukas’s red flannel plaid shirts? Better known as “buffalo” plaid, these shirts have been making Canadian men suave and attractive since the mid-1800’s. Complete with snow and evergreen trees, you come north of the 49th parallel and we guarantee you the whole package!

Lukas completes his “look” with the traditional brown leather bomber jacket. Lukas looks dashing in it and so will your guy—give him an “honorary Canadian” leather jacket to go with the book for Christmas. Instantly rugged and handsome for the holidays!

northern deception 1600x2400Reunions can be deadly.

After a savage attack in university, Kira Summers fled to the safety of northern Canada and her work as a polar bear scientist. But when her whistleblower brother dies in a mysterious car crash, she must return home to bury him and pack his belongings. Unaware she’s carrying explosive evidence someone’s willing to kill for, she has no choice but to rely on the one person she never thought she’d see again.

Lukas Tanner, a widowed single father of a special needs toddler, moved to Churchill five years ago. As the proud owner of Guiding Star Enterprises, a wilderness tour company, he and his daughter lead a simple life. But when Kira comes crashing back into his world, he realizes God has other plans. Now, Lukas and Kira must confront a merciless killer as their past and present collide in a deadly race—a race they must win if they have any hope of a future together.
