Taken by Lisa Harris | Book Review

Kate Elliot’s suburban life turns upside down when her sister is shot and her niece kidnapped. Unsure of whom to trust, she turns to FBI agent Marcus O’Brian. But Kate doesn’t want to leave the case to the authorities. Against the handsome agent’s orders, she tracks her niece to Paris, and the City of Light quickly becomes a city of danger. Marcus can’t explain why he feels such a strong connection with the headstrong woman, but soon he’s taking on the role of Kate’s protector. Yet when the kidnappers demand a ransom Kate can’t deliver, he’s not sure how much longer he can keep her alive. Now Marcus has the next twenty-four hours to save a stolen child and the woman he’s grown to love.

My Thoughts

Deadly secrets, clandestine meetings, and narrow escapes await those who read Lisa Harris’s upcoming release Taken. Kate Elliot follows the trail left by her niece’s kidnappers to Paris, but before she has a chance to find Sophie, someone finds her. Narrowly evading capture, Kate is fortunate enough to run into a familiar face – FBI agent Marcus O’Brain. Be prepared for pulse-pounding heart-stopping action through the streets of Paris when the pursuer becomes the pursued.

This was a fun and fast-paced story! Having visited Paris in 2012, a lot of the scenes the author describes are still fresh in my memory. Don’t worry if you haven’t had the opportunity to visit “The City of Light” because Lisa will bring it to life for you. Amidst the suspense filled plot is a decent amount of Parisian history which is an added bonus for those of us who like to learn as they read.

The romance between Kate and Marcus never feels contrived. Kate needs Marcus’s help to find Sophie as well as the protection he can provide. While he is initially annoyed that she has disobeyed his advice to stay home in Texas, Marcus needs Kate’s help too, and he feels duty bound to protect her. As the danger increases and their deadline rushes to meet them, their relationship enters a pressure cooker. He admires her tenacity and wit, and over time she recognizes that he is a man worthy of her trust.

Taken is the perfect selection for readers who like their action/suspense with a healthy dose of clean romance. I give it 4/5 stars.

I received this title from the author for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
