Detective Ben Russo is in trouble.
He just can’t remember why.
When a car accident lands Ben in the hospital, he can’t recall anything about his life. What he does know is he’s enchanted by a tiny nurse named Tess, but can’t shake the feeling they’re both in danger.
After being left at the altar, Tess Jansenn moves to a new town and starts over. When her ex-fiancé, Ben, shows up in the ER where she works with no memory of her, she must decide – tell Ben who he is or let him remember on his own.
Can Tess forgive and forget what drove them apart, and when Ben remembers, will the consequences of his choices make it too late for love?
Lara Van Hulzen makes an explosive entrance into the Christian writing scene with her debut suspense romance Remember Me. Readers will find themselves helplessly drawn to the rekindling romance between Ben Russo and Tess Janseen. As events unfold Van Hulzen dials up the suspense, concluding with a stunning finale that you won’t see coming.
The ruggedly handsome Ben Russo becomes blinded by grief after the accidental shooting death of his parents. His inability to find solace in his faith or to be comforted by his future bride causes him to become withdrawn and despondent. Setting his sights on revenge, Ben pulls away from Tess, which results in his leaving her just days before their wedding.
I found something so real and raw about Tess that I made an immediate connection with her character. Most women can relate to having a broken heart at some time in their life, but being left at the alter – unimaginable! Picking up the pieces of her broken heart, Tess moved to a quaint coastal town for a fresh start. Tess’ tender nurturing qualities made my heart ache for her after buried emotions roil to the surface following Ben’s re-entrance into her life . Despite his betrayal, I felt myself secretly hoping their relationship would be renewed.
Remember Me delivers love and romance in a way that brings honor to God. Even more, the main characters pray both privately and with one another which I found to be refreshing.
Lara Van Hulzen’s debut novel is well written, containing the perfect measure of romance, with skillfully crafted suspense. I give Remember Me 5/5 stars.
