HeBrews: A Better Blend is an eight-week Bible study that takes the student through the entire book of Hebrews. In this study, Leah Adams teaches why the New Covenant offered through the blood of Jesus is better than the Old Testament Covenant with the Hebrews. Jesus was the BETTER priest, administering a BETTER covenant, offering a BETTER sacrifice, and ultimately bringing us into a BETTER tabernacle. Each week is composed of five days of homework designed to encourage your walk of faith.
Since fellowship plays a role in many group studies, a recipe and coffee suggestion is included at the beginning of each week.
Our Women’s Ministry leadership team is always on the lookout for studies that will draw our ladies into an abiding love relationship with our Savior. While searching for a bible study that was not DVD driven I stumbled upon HeBrews: A Better Blend from Warner Press. One prerequisite that our team has for new material is that it must equip our small group leaders with all that they need to lead their class into a deeper understanding of the scriptures. Leah Adams meets and exceeds our expectations with her newest study HeBrews: A Better Blend.
Attracted by the cover (I know I shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover, but…) I thought that the coffeehouse theme of this study would appeal to millennials which compose a large portion of our congregation. Beyond the cover, this study provides wonderful insights sure to spark small group conversations. Riddled with personal stories and lessons learned from a woman seeking hard after God, Leah Adams immediately connects with her students in a rich and ongoing dialog.
Full of “ah-ha” moments, HeBrews connects the dots between old and new using a compare and contrast method of study. While completing the five days of homework each week, participants will enjoy spending time in the Old Testament, seeing how Jesus is the completion of all God began in the Old Testament. Readers will dig deeper and discover how God exchanged Law for Grace, how the OT High Priest was a forerunner of Jesus, the construction and symbolism of the tabernacles, and the benefits/necessity of putting our faith into action. Homework is comprised of reading, comparing scriptures, fill in the blank questions, and opportunities for personal summation of lessons learned. Perfect for sharing in a small group setting. No study would be complete without the opportunity to do a little heart-work and Adams’ provides a prompt through her “Meditation Moments” at the end of each day.
I have completed this study and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to our Women’s Ministry and yours. The author’s style of writing, the pace of the study, and depth of material covered make this study one that will appeal to all – whether new to the faith or a seasoned believer. It would be impossible to do this study and not fall head over heals in love again with our Savior. Grab a cup of joe and a sweet treat from the recipes included in this study and enjoy your time in the Word.
I give HeBrews: A Better Blend by Leah Adams 5 out of 5 stars.
I received this title free from the publisher through the NetGalley review program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
